Robin Redbreast

So now we dig up an old Mother Goose nursery rhyme for our nature poetry this time. I think if you want nature and poetry together then Mother Goose might just be the perfect combination. The poem we have today is called "Robin Redbreast", and it's about a little robin and a determined cat. You'll have to read the poem to find out just what happens to them.

Robin Redbreast

Little Robin Redbreast sat upon a tree,
Up went Pussy-Cat, down went he,
Down came Pussy-Cat, away Robin ran,
Says little Robin Redbreast: "Catch me if you can!

Little Robin Redbreast jumped upon a spade,
Pussy-Cat jumped after him, and then he was afraid.
Little Robin chirped and sang, and what did Pussy say?
Pussy-Cat said: "Mew, mew, mew," and Robin flew away.
