The Joys of Simple Life

Betchai writes The Joys of Simple Life. She likes to hike and takes many and wonderful pictures. What I like best about her is that she likes to share her hikes and photos with us. Everywhere she goes, she takes her camera and we reap the benefits. Betchai describes herself as a simple teacher and nature wanderer.

When Betchai started her blog, what she wanted to accomplish was to share her adventures. In the process she found that she also learning how to organize her thoughts. In order to share the places she visited and the sights she saw, she did research to be more informed. Eventually through contact with other bloggers she learned to put her posts into categories. She has made new friends from all over the world. She is learning more about her photography from them too. Then she has a little lesson and some pictures of migrating birds at Mono Lake, at Eastern Sierra, California.

Autumn flowers began the post. The colors are glorious. Betchai went to Lake Poway with the intention of hiking and taking pictures of the sunset. She was successful. She was a little disappointed because she did not get a photo of the sunset reflecting in the water of the lake as she wanted it to. There are also some birds of prey and waterfowl that she came across.

Next Betchai takes us to Fern Canyon in Redwood National and State Parks. This is located in Northern California and is a World Heritage Site and an International Biosphere Reserve. Some of the ferns here can be traced back 325 years. The three major types of fern found in this canyon are five-fingered ferns, delicate lady ferns, and sword ferns. They cling to the cliffs in the park. There are redwoods and drooping moss. She even has a picture of a hollow tree with drooping moss that looks like a cave. In the prairie area she found elk and took several pictures for us.

White water rafting on the White Salmon River in Washington is the next adventure Betchai shares. They went hiking, spelunking, and tide pooling too. Then they spent some time in Oregon where the view includes Mount Hood. She only took pictures of the windsurfers because that sport requires a lot of upper body strength. She had a fantastic time and has her amazing photos to prove it.

During a blizzard they visited Mount Rainier National Park. Because of the snow they had to forego some of the hikes they had planned. Instead they went to the waterfalls in the park. I won't list them here because Betchai does a much better job than I can and she has pictures. I can watch waterfalls all day. The next best thing is good pictures and they are here.

The Joys of Simple Life is easy to read and fun to look at. Make sure you check Betchai's other site too. There is a link to the side of her posts. Her pictures alone make this a place to see. After you have looked around and enjoyed yourself please leave Betchai a nice comment. And mention that Emma sent you. Her link is below.

  11. I'm so glad you pointed this site out. I never have time to find sites on my own, so now I have a new one to explore. The Alaska fireweeds shots gained my attention right away. I was in Alaska when I was 18, but I didn't get to experience it like this. Fern Canyon...WOW! This place is amazing. It's a wall of foliage. Lovely site!

  14. Better late than later, SquirrelQueen. I have been Following Betchai for several years. Limited time keeps me from writing about all the wonderful blogs there are about nature. I like Betchai's blog because she is a "soft" nature lover. Not all of us are woodsmen, for instance. Thank you for commenting.
