Iguazu Falls

Waterfalls are some of the most amazing creations of nature in our world, and some of my very favorite things. So I decided that a waterfall is exactly what I'd bring to you this week, and I really found a good group of falls for this. Iguazu Falls in South America are some of the most impressive falls in the world.

There is a native myth about the creation of these falls that says there was once a beautiful girl in that area that lived near the river. Those exist everywhere, but this one was so beautiful that God himself fell in love with her. But the girl happened to be already in love with someone else. Isn't that always the case?

Well, it didn't make God very happy, and back then he was still an angry God. Anyway, the two lovers fled in a canoe down the river. Where else would they take a canoe? God being God, quickly found where they went, and moved in for his vengeance. In a rage, He used a magic sword to slice the river and the Earth around it in two, plunging the couple to their deaths. And Iguazu Falls is still there to this day.

I'm glad that God seems to have mellowed out a bit as he got a little older. But I'm also glad that he made things like Iguazu Falls.

  1. My goodness! I have been to Niagara Falls and I become hypnotized by the power and splendor of the huge amounts of water rushing over the edge and to the waters below. Niagara Falls is nothing compared to this. The sight, smell, and sound of water have to be the most soothing sensations people experience.
