Great Egret

This Great Egret was at a wetland enjoying the evening sunlight. I caught it here just as it was ruffling its feathers. The perch it is on is a favorite place for these birds. I have encountered them there more than once now by simple chance. I don't go to this place often because it is difficult to get there. I wish I could see it more.

This wetland is a place that is full of life. It has been crowded with birds every time I've been there. The ducks and geese will waddle right up to me. The bigger birds, like this great egret, stay a little farther away, but they're not very afraid either. There are also plenty of reptiles, such as snakes and turtles, here too. I haven't heard the croaks of frogs here yet, but I'm sure they are here too. And the plant life is second to none. I wish I could get a little closer to some of these things, but the water bars the way.

Rat Tales is where I get to share some of the fiction that I write. No photos there though, just some very cool stories.
